The Book Care is an automated anti-piracy enforcement platform operated on behalf of book publishers and authors. We discover websites hosting unauthorised copies of works in our clients' protected catalogues, verify each instance with forensic-grade evidence (full-page screenshots, SHA-256 hashes, AI vision verification at ≥0.95 confidence), and dispatch DMCA takedown notices to the responsible parties.

Notices we dispatch

Each notice is individually generated for a single verified piece of evidence and complies with the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). Notices include:

• Identification of the copyrighted work (title, author, ISBN, copyright owner)
• Identification of the infringing material (URL, capture timestamp, SHA-256 hash)
• A good-faith statement that the use is unauthorised
• An accuracy declaration under penalty of perjury
• The contact details of our authorised agent
• An electronic signature on behalf of the copyright owner

Recipients

Notices are addressed to the abuse contact published by the responsible party itself, in this order of preference:

1. Designated DMCA agent listed on a /dmca, /copyright, or /legal page
2. Abuse contact in WHOIS records
3. Hosting provider abuse contact
4. Domain registrar abuse contact
5. CDN abuse contact

Counter-notice procedure

If you believe a notice was issued in error, you may submit a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). Send it to protection@thebookcare.com with:

• Your physical or electronic signature
• The URL of the material removed and its prior location
• A statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was the result of mistake or misidentification
• Your name, address, and telephone number
• Consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court where you reside (or where the service provider is located)

We acknowledge counter-notices within two business days and forward them to the rights holder.

Repeat-infringer policy

Domains and accounts that ignore valid takedown notices are escalated to their hosting provider, registrar, and CDN in priority order. We track repeat infringement across our network and surface patterns to enforcement partners.

Anti-abuse safeguards

• Every infringement is verified by an AI vision model before any notice is generated
• False-positive rate target: under 3%
• Legitimate retailers, libraries, review sites, and author pages are auto-filtered
• Hard bounces flag the recipient as undeliverable to prevent repeat sends
• Counter-notice receipt immediately suppresses the recipient from any retry loop
